Nwankwo Kanu: A footballer with a heart of gold

 

If there is one thing Nwankwo Kanu is well known for outside the football arena, it is his lion heart. The award-winning, former Super Eagles captain and football star is committed to providing a better lease of life to Nigerians with heart problems through the Kanu Heart Foundation he founded in 2000.

 

Kanu is one of the African legendary football stars who have not only won football awards, but also the hearts of many.  After helping helping over 400 cardiac patients under go surgery,  the Portsmouth forward who retired from international football after 16 years,

will establish the Kanu Heart Foundation as a reputable cardiac center in Abuja, Nigeria. The $32million hospital, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for corrective heart surgeries, will save several lives. Kanu believe that sending patients abroad for surgery is more costly and it would be much easier to treat them from Africa.
